Barny
blinding white walls, barren and stark, in a dusty room piled high with bags and boxes, a bed, the only island in this sea of hastily-packed and deposited non-essentials, indeed the only item of furniture. a distinct lack of storage space conveniently doubling as a great excuse not to unpack. a candidate for the life-laundry tip-toeing timidly through the mountainous mass of clothes unappreciated and books unworn, cuddly gifts unloved. moving house five times in one year might make me sound like a terrible housemate, i reflect, but not true, they were all sad to see me go i tell myself, that was a look of regret in their eyes before they locked and chained the doors behind me, wasn't it? the landlord said he was selling the house, but it all fell through, so he changed the locks and repopulated it with a bunch of unpalatable goths, no reason to doubt him, the flatmates who found somewhere larger and cheaper and just down the road but only room for two, sorry- these things happen, i understand.
find a girl, settle down, maybe
one day i'll get married (but not to ronan keating),
that's next on the list
maybe one day doors will open instead of slamming and locking, i feel comforted
at the thought
maybe one day i'll wash ashore
