THE BLACK TULIPS

Alexandra

I do not like to step off-stage, partly because I always seem to abandon my heels during Sad Sally and have to slop across the sticking floor in stockinged feet and partly as that is when the performance really starts. I am only me when I am singing. Brighton’s gig with SFA was my favourite yet. I grinned until I thought my face would rip. After Friday’s gig and party, Saturday was a sore blur and there were two options on Sunday: stay in, be numb and watch Midsomer Murders or step into the night and view Death in Venice at the arts cinema. A difficult decision indeed as the outside gets on my wrong side but fortunately my passion for Bogarde pulled my coat on (a winter one in honour of the hidden eclipse) and I found myself drinking coffee in the red and rarefied gloom of the E.P. Even managed to enter a bar after for Bacardi biased discussion on Dirk and decadence. Isn’t Dirk lovely? He is lovely. I didn’t know eyes could bear such sadness.

Watching:

Death in Venice; Carry on Camping; The League of Gentlemen Series 1 & 2

Reading:

David Constantine – Collected Poems, Margaret Forster – Lady’s Maid, Tobias Hill – The Cryptographer.
