The forum. I like it. I have avoided signing up to such entities in the past as they are often populated by the belittling and baggy brained but so far the Black Tulips forum is looking promising. And as I said to a very dear friend, it is not without a frisson.

And then there was there was Neils Children at Legion on Thursday. I’m sure it would have been marvellous but they had barely started when we had to leave for the last train. Still, we were treated to a magnificent tea made by Heidi’s ma beforehand. Posh biscuits and everything.

Reading: Alice Munro – The Moons of Jupiter; Haruki Murakami; The Wind-up Bird Chronicles (reading well so far); Philip Reeve – Mortal Engines (made me smile as only a resonant blue sea and writing gravid with faultless phrases can).

And may I say a word for libraries. I’m assuming I can. Naughty. That’s the word. I walked off with fifteen books in a bag provided by a twinkly man with whom I shared a Proust based jest and didn’t have to give him any money.

I assumed for many years that I would meet The One in a library. Probably while we simultaneously reached for a tome denoting great discernment. I thought we would share intimacies while dancing with the Dewey decimal system; make commitments over a micro-fiche.

Watching: Frank Capra (dir) - Arsenic and Old Lace. Sometimes only Cary will do. Not my favourite of his oeuvre but the nearest to my lazy left hand. And he is still magnificent. I thank you.
