PRESS: .44 Caliber has reviewed The Black Tulips EP.

Here is what they say:

THE BLACK TULIPS // The Black Tulips EP
Trashy glam punk: get it right and you're positively life-affirming, get it wrong and you sound like Garbage. Thus, owing to the predicament, only the truly bold of heart step up to have a go at this genre, hoping that a bit of sass and sneer will snare your heart and thrust you towards the dancefloor. The Black Tulips are such a band, and they pull off the whole shebang with relative ease. 'I Don't Want You' is stylish and well-conceived, a driving rhythm section battling with tense guitars and a suitably spirited performance from frontwoman Alexandra, her vocals falling neatly between the fractured lunacy of Katie-Jane Garside and the coquettish draw of Debbie Harry. 'Just Keep Coming' is less immediate and marred by amateurish drumming that restricts the song from hitting a groove, but it's sugar-rush of a chorus is worth a mention none the less. 'Sad Sally' is much more incisive, boasting yet another cracking chorus, a smattering of sharp guitar lines and the kind of sultry vocals that Dirty Harry nearly made a career out of a couple of years ago. A very promising effort all in all, particularly for fans of Rachel Stamp.
