PRESS: Glasswerk has reviewed The Black Tulips EP.

Here is what they say:

The Black Tulips - Just Keep Coming
Put simply this is BRILLIANT! Art-rockers The Black Tulips hail from Brighton where they appear to be attracting much attention on the circuit and this, their debut EP, is a flavour of why that is the case. Not only is front-woman Alexandra gorgeous, but her songs are intelligent and noisy (always a good combo) and when she opens her mouth to sing it will blow you away. Reminiscent of Patti Smith and more recently Karen O from yanks the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s the deep but beautiful sound she produces is one that sends shivers down the spine.

There are three edgy, enigmatic tracks on this EP, which isn’t enough ‘cos I keep having to get off my arse to press play again. Eccentric and original but at the same time there is a certain reassuring familiarity about these songs which make them accessible whilst retaining their alternative credibility. Having taken a quick peep at the band’s website it appears there is a lot of interest in these youngsters, and rightly so. I will certainly be looking out for any live dates they might be playing in the East Midlands over the coming months as well as any further releases. This is a must have EP as far as I’m concerned. As I do have it I’ll leave the rest of you the difficult task of tracking down a copy!
