The Black Tulips – Just Keep Coming
Startling raw garage, at face value, but Black Tulips don’t play up to beered up head shakers, rather they set their bar a little higher. Singer Alexandra is arresting with her Diamanda Galas/Siouxsie vocal range, and this adds a gothic hue, but this is not a subdued or black record at all, rather it is brash, confident and clash-colourful. ‘Just Keep Coming’ For coffee-shop patrons on the perimeter of polite society, waiting for the chance to place a boot on a monitor, and offer a lo-fi cult-glamorous wink before pirouetting into song.
