THE BLACK TULIPS

Waiting For My Feelings        [music index]

I do not dig
But if I did
It would be on the hill
Where the eye sees as wide
As the suicides
Off Beachy Head.
I do not dance
But if I did
I would dance with you and I'd throw
You a line
Am I human?

And I'm waiting for my feelings
To come home. Waiting
For my feelings to come home.
And if you were the one
Would you find my feelings?

I cannot wait
Until the sea sinks
Into the sand
And we're left
Bereft
But with real estate
To hand.
I cannot lie
But if I did
I would lie with you
And you'd throw me a line
Am I human?

And I'm waiting for my feelings
To come home. Waiting
For my feelings to come home.
And if you were the one
Would you find my feelings?
Staring at the ground, staring
At my feet. I don't know
What is up there
For me.
Waiting for my feelings
To come home. Waiting
For my feelings to come home.
And if you are the one
Will you find my feelings?

FACTLET: The hill in question is Hastings' West Hill, best reached by the quaint railway that runs up the hill through a dimly-lit tunnel. At the top can be found seagulls with a sense of humour, a good pot of tea and the aforementioned view.
